The Line storage area network is a comprehensive hardware and software solution for storing video archive. It provides guaranteed access to archive footage.

SAN (ISCSI over TCP) is used as the architecture solution. This is a high-speed, dedicated storage area network that can be connected to one or more servers. It is suitable for video surveillance systems that require high reliability and performance at facilities with a lot of cameras.

The basic file system uses 128-bit ZFS. The system also applies the CHAP authentication algorithm. The control platform works on FreeBSD.

• Using a storage area network significantly reduces the chances of losing the archive.
• To use it, backup power and guaranteed network bandwidth is required.
• We recommend using a separate network for connecting servers to the storage area network.

Hard drive size is shown using the decimal system.

For each eighth hard drive, the company supplies one backup HDD. Disc space on the Line video server will be available as a physical drive. This system can be used to organize the archive of several servers, and the total archive volume can be expanded by adding new storage area networks.

One storage area network can have several RAID types. The archive can also be customized (JBOD, mirror, RAID-Z, RAID 10).

To configure Line SAN 16xSATA and Line SAN 24хSAS, an on-site visit by a technician from Devline will be arranged as well as remote monitoring.

Line DND 2000 TB (192+24 12 Tb HDD SAS) is a comprehensive storage area network that includes:

• 8 SAN 24 x SAS;
• Two UPS 2700W (APC by Schneider Electric Smart-UPS SRT 3000VA, SRT3000RMXLI);
• 42U server rack (APC AR2480 NetShelter SV 42U 800mm server rack);
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-X series switch (48 x 1 GB) and SFP+ (2 x 10 GB).

Guarantee and commissioning work

Guarantee − 2 years. Devline provides the whole range of services, from mounting the server rack to connecting and configuring equipment. The price of the support service includes an on-site visit by the company’s specialists to launch the storage area network. A scheduled maintenance visit after 12 and 24 months and two emergency visits if required. The company will remotely monitor the storage area network throughout the guarantee period (if technically possible).

Please note that hard drive manufacturers measure volume using the decimal system, while the operating system uses binary.

In the decimal system, the prefix “giga” means 10⁹, while in binary it is 2³⁰. Therefore, in the first instance, 1 kilobyte equals 1000, while in the second it is 1024 bytes. Therefore, a basic 12 TB HDD will have 10.9 TB available in the system.

Requirements

Two independent 10 kW lines.
Equipment that ensures a temperature from 18 to 25 °С and humidity from 20 to 80% without condensation.
The floor load in the equipment room should not exceed 1 tonne.

The appearance and configuration may vary, but the basic characteristics of the equipment shall be maintained.
